The web tablet is the preferred alternative to the laptop because it is similar in size and weight but it allows touchscreen manipulation using a stylus. The more common type is the convertible web tablet which features a monitor that can be turned 180 degrees and detached to use as a PC tablet. Searching for a tablet with powerful features or just want the best value? Here are tips about how to find the best web tablet that will suit your needs:

How to Find the Best Web Tablet

Display

You can find 10.2-inch web tablets and the diminutive yet handy 5-inch tablets. Bear in mind the kind of functions you want in order to decide whether you can forgo screen size for mobility or if you would rather have access to better visuals offered by a full-sized screen.

If you’re searching for the best touch web tablet, look for one that has multi-touch support. This lets you work on the screen using several fingers at one, so you can perform swiping motions to scroll up or down or pinch to change the size of an open window or document. Check the unit if it has a good touch interface for better functionality. This feature is generally bundled into the unit by vendors. Two examples include Touch Gate on the Asus Eeee PC and Media Smart for HP.

Convertible Web Tablet Models

A convertible web tablet offers the convenience of a keyboard so if you’re the type of user who likes the tactile experience of typing, this is an excellent choice to have. A lot of the leading brands offer their own versions with their own attractive features. HP’s EliteBook series, for example, offers ultra-thin and light-weight computing solutions for personal and business use. Search for models from brands such as Asus, Lenovo, Fujitsu and Toshiba as well.

Memory

Check out the maximum amount of memory that the PC carries. A tablet that has 256Mb of memory will suffice for normal everyday use, letting you create and manage files and documents and browse the Internet. But for higher processing power, specifically if you will be handling large files, you may need a tablet with a higher memory.

Budget range for the Web Tablet

Right from the get-go, decide on how much you’re happy to spend. Tablet models usually start at around $1,000 while high-end models may go up to $2,000, even more. You can find mid-range priced models such as the Dell Streak and the Apple iPad at the $450 to $500 range. There’s also really cheap models like the 7-inch Maylong M-150 which costs just $99.99. Brands for example Fujitsu and Toshiba have models that are in the $1,000 to $1,200 range.

Although price is important, don’t just rely on it when shopping. Look for features, accessories, usability and a great warranty because ultimately, these are what makes the perfect web tablet, one that will perform when and how you need it to.

Here is a popular question ” What is The Difference Between a Laptop, a Notebook, and a Tablet PC?”

A notebook is just another name for a laptop. It is, of course, a completely portable computer…well sort of. Some laptops are quite large and heavy but they’re still portable

Pic: Here is a Table PC

If by Tablet you mean Tablet PC, it is a variant of a laptop. It, too, is a fully portable computer. They’re made smaller and lighter to be a very mobile device. They also have special screens that allow you to “write” on them in digital ink and to control all functions of the computer with a pen in the same way you use a mouse on regular computers.

Some look just like laptops with screen & keyboard, but the screen can spin around and be laid down over the keyboard with the screen facing out. Some come with no keyboard at all (called a Slate Tablet PC) and are meant to be operated mainly by pen.

A notepad could be another name for a very small, light laptop or is sometimes used for specialty devices that are more like a large PDA, running limited but specialized software that may or may not be fully compatible with Windows.

Laptops and some Tablet PC’s can be found in most electronics department stores and computer stores or on Amazon online store. Notepad’s and Slate Tablet PC’s are more specialized and generally need to be ordered from the manufacturer.
